We?ve clogged the news full of iPhone this past week, it?s what is hot right now. Next month it will be something else, maybe not of the same magnitude, but you know what I mean.
There is a great post over at Crunch Gear? we were lied to? False Shortage!!! ( iPhone?s Are Still Available.Everywhere ) I can say that my local store was almost out at 10pm last night.
Anyhow, I posted a couple more videos today? with a couple more in production. They are after the break.
I was planning on visiting a store about 4-5pm local time to ?get in line?, but my wife saw the local news last night and the forecasted that local stores would have lines forming upon opening. That said, I decided to go ahead and get an early jump. I really didn?t need to though. I was and am 1st in line both at 9am this morning and now at 1:30 after I left to take lunch. I am not too concerned about having a shot now, I am in.
So, right now I am sitting in the store waiting, but I am to be shuttled out to the front when they close at 4pm and I will do the two hour wait no problem.
Barring a technical difficulty, I will have the unboxing online minutes after I receive the phone.
Here is the day in a nutshell. Most of the photos after the break. This is a scary one, I am wet, hot, and tired!

Hadley from iPhoneMatters.com was willing to share his first look at his new iPhone with all of us ? in the TRUNK of his car. Actually, I wanted him to do there in case he got so excited and dropped it. I have to tell you, it was a very impressive package, neatly put together to let the new owner begin his iPhone experience immediately ? well almost immediately. We found out during the unboxing that he needed to get that registration through iTunes first ? too bad.
In any event, we get to see the contents of the box ? and it is impressive, very impressive! Yup, this is a very cool TOY and with all the changes that Apple has announced recently, I expect a lot of folks will be enjoying it.
Hadley, thanks for taking the time to share your initial experience with all of us! Best of luck with your new device!
Apple has posted a video on the iPhone keyboard on their website.
Some of the highlights of the keyboard video:
- Adapts its key layout for different applications
- In less than a week you?ll likely be typing faster than any other small keyboard
- magnifying glass that?s used to re-position your cursor to insert or edit a word (as opposed to using the back arrow, or d-pad as on other devices)
- To decline a suggested word click on it, to accept, press the space bar
- dictionary dynamically enlarges the tap zones for predicted letters and shrinks the tap zones for other letters
- In email the keyboard defaults to initial caps and recognizes common contractions like can?t, aren?t and let?s
- Comes with a built-in dictionary pre-installed for auto correction
- Learns the words that you type most often, including proper names and everything in your address book

Guys and gals, I am sorry that the iPhone has invaded your lives here as well as? well, everywhere. I have to admit that I am as interested in seeing how this thing does as the Apple Fanboys out there. I know that many of you are waiting to see as well. Even if your hopes are for a miserable failure, or just genuinely interested, everyone wants to know. ( Even Radimus )
The wait is almost over and it looks like Apple and at&t have given the ?big guys? the green light to share their experience with the iPhone.
