? and it is really excellent! WMExperts.com give you 25 minutes of a comparison between these two phone. I?m convinced that if you have not recently purchased a new device and have been thinking about getting one, this comparison will help you with that decision. In essence, you need to decide what is most important for you. If you want a device for media and a decent browser, then your choice will be the iPhone but if you want productivity as well as the ability to do a myriad of tasks through 3rd party applications then the Touch absolutely blows the socks off the iPhone.
It all comes down to matter of personal preferences and needs ?
Basically we?re looking at a situation that matches with everybody?s expectations surprisingly well - the Apple product is hip, flashy, and surprisingly easy to use. The Windows product actually lets you, you know, work. Now in the desktop world, I find that the Mac lets me do the work I need to as well (if not better) than Windows. But in the mobile space, well, the cloying commercials fit pretty well.

In another of the constant stream of iPhone ?hacks?, the test code number that activates field test mode has been published
In the comments of this story there are several posters volunteering the test code numbers for different models of phones, one of which is for the Cingular 8125 and 8525
What this info is really good for, for the average person, I don?t know? But hidden nuggets are always cool to look at.

DSL Reports has a new speed test online made just for the iPhone. I performed this test on my iPhone and got a report of 152kbps, which is inline with other tests i?ve run. In addition, my laptop wireless card?s EDGE speed test came in at 159kbps in the same area of town.
This 152kbps is also inline with other tests done by the same test. According to my results, phones on AT&T EDGE using this test page are averaging 148kbps over 27 samples.
The EDGE network is slow as Christmas, but who do we blame? Certainly not AT&T, they didn?t choose to equip the iPhone with EDGE, right? Or is it AT&T for not having blanket 3G coverage in the US already? My guess is that Apple chose EDGE to conserve battery life.
Anyhow, it?s doesn?t really matter why, all we need to know is that EDGE ?is? sufficient to do some things on the iPhone, but Google Maps at 150k is not very pleasurable.
If you want to use this speed test to check your iPhone, follow this link.

Matt Miller from ZDNet has had 10 days of iPhone ownership and has posted some impressions ( first and second) of the device. He was thrilled that the AT&T data plan was inexpensive and has resisted comparing it to the Windows Mobile and S60 operating systems but Matt has a concern and that is ?Apple seems to have forgotten the phone in the iPhone?.
This is an interesting article on how the iPhone falls flat when it comes to mobile phone functionality and features. and how the free mobile phone you get when you sign up with your carrier has more functionality and performs better as a phone than the iPhone.
Interested? I was and I enjoyed Matt?s thoughts. You can read his article here at The Mobile Gadgeteer on ZDNet.com.

Wirelessinfo.com has been running extensive battery tests on their iPhones over the past few days, and they have found something interesting; 2 out of the 3 iPhones that they have seem to have faulty batteries.
?Our testing involves a lot of charging the phones, then running them down and charging them again. And we found that 2 of the 3 had significantly lower battery life than the third; this is why when we first published our results for the iPhone battery life, we found that the battery life was just 4 hours. We?ll be publishing revised results for the iPhone in the next day or so, but after we had charged and exhausted the batteries on our phones several times, we noticed this: 2 of the phones never reached full charge. ?
There has also been discussion of this on MacRumors forums
Wirelessinfo is running a survey on this issue. You can tell them if you have had similar problems by going to iPhone battery survey

Here is what a cartoonist for the Pittsburg Post_Gazette thinks Apple needs the iPhone to do to live up to the insane hype that the iPhone has generated. I have to admit, the longer I use the iPhone, the less fond of it I am becoming.
