So important, yet so small and inexpensive - iPhone Adapter

hd005image For true audiophiles, a good set of headphones is a must. I don?t claim to be a serious audiophile, but I do play one on TV.

One of the 1st things I noticed about the iPhone that really through me off was the deep, recessed hole for the headphones on the iPhone. None of the aftermarket, premium headphones I own would work with the iPhone. That is bad. Well, Helium Digital has seen the need and now they are filling the hole? For only $3.99. They could gouge us up to $15-20 and I would still pay it, so $3.99 is a damn bargain. Ok, it?s $3.99 Canadian, but still.

?Helium Digital, a Canadian company specializing in trend forward accessories for digital devices, has announced the launch of their new HD-005 3.5mm Headphone adapter. The Helium Digital Headphone Adapter allows the use of all headphones that use a standard 3.5mm headphone jack to be used with devices such as the Apple iPhone

Apple today released the following statement:

Apple has discovered that many of the unauthorized iPhone unlocking programs available on the Internet cause irreparable damage to the iPhone?s software, which will likely result in the modified iPhone becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied iPhone software update is installed. Apple plans to release the next iPhone software update, containing many new features including the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, later this week. Apple strongly discourages users from installing unauthorized unlocking programs on their iPhones. Users who make unauthorized modifications to the software on their iPhone violate their iPhone software license agreement and void their warranty. The permanent inability to use an iPhone due to installing unlocking software is not covered under the iPhone?s warranty.

I Got One $100 Rebate, Out of Luck on the Other Two

iphone_34 Well. I was quite excited with the announcement of the $100 Gift Card offer from Apple for being a ?Early Adopter?. I have purchased 3 of the iPhones, so I should get $300 back. Getting back something is always good, right?

Well, late last week, the details on how to get this rebate came online. I got the $100 gift card for the iPhone I signed up with my number and used for 3 weeks, but it looks like the receipents of my contests will get the $100 for the other two.

The process of getting this card requires the Serial Number and the Phone Number of the phone. If you bought an iPhone and never activated it, you are not eligible. That said, if you bought the phone and sold it or gave it away, you never activated it so there is no number to redeem it with.

Oh well, I tried. Every dollar helps when you have a gadget addiction like me.

iUnlock, the first free, open source iPhone SIM unlock software

The system does not work. It?s built to defend companies interests but not consumers. If  you buy a phone you should be able to use it with any service provider. If you buy a song online, you should be able to play it in what ever mp3 player can play that file format. So, here you go. The iPhone can be unlocked now for free according to this news published in Engaget, page that tested the system to be sure that it works.

iUnlock, the first free, open source iPhone SIM unlock app, was released to the underground just 74 days after the iPhone?s release. Developed by the iPhone Dev Team, it?s not (yet) for the faint of heart and it takes a little longer to do its magic than iPhoneSIMfree?s method, but it works.
